‘To know God and be the people of God in our community sharing His love with all’

The purpose of the church is based on two key Scriptures:

The Great Commandment – “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it; ’Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22 vv 36 – 40.

The Great Commission “Jesus said, ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’” Matthew 28 vv 19 – 20.

Within these two statements we find the five main purposes of any church, including our own.

To “Love God with all your heart” is “WORSHIP.”

To “Love your neighbour as yourself” is “SERVING.”

 To “Go…make disciples” is “MISSION.”

To “Teach them to obey all……” is “DISCIPLESHIP.”

WORSHIP (Magnifying)

To “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your

mind and with all your strength” and enable the Church to worship in a variety of

ways both corporately and individually

SERVE (Ministry)

To enable every person to discover their personal God given shape and gifts so that they

might serve God in the church, the local community and beyond.

CARE (Membership)

To have all within the Church recognise that they belong to each other in Christian

fellowship and have a responsibility to care for others. To also care about the

environment and social justice locally, nationally and internationally

GROW (Maturity)

To enable and encourage each other to grow on in our spiritual lives through

teaching and other ways, so that we will be effective in living out our beliefs in a

credible & authentic way.

SHARE (Mission)

Through example, friendship and testimony to witness, so that people may develop a

personal relationship with God thus enabling the church to grow spiritually and

numerically locally, nationally and internationally
