The Grow strategy covers all aspects of the church’s life for those who want to be fully committed to Christ and hopefully be part of God’s plan in Chipping Sodbury.
Small Groups
Mid-week, there are several small groups of church attenders, meeting in homes. Times, days and age ranges vary from group. All have one goal: Meet to chat, pray, drink tea/coffee, cry, laugh, read the Bible, and seek God together. They are where deep friendships are forged and renewed, lives kept afloat (and sometimes changed). Even if Sunday Morning Church is not your thing (and even if it is), a small group pow-wow once a week is inevitably time well spent.
Crafty or Knot
Are you a crafty individual? Why not join us in the Church Hall on Wednesday evenings. At the moment, card-making is the fashion, but that will change. Just wait. It’ll change as soon as you show up with your craft. And everyone will say, “Hey! I’ve always wanted to do one of those!” Presto: Your next career, teaching them how to do it.
Bible Reading Notes
In the lobby of the church building is a stand containing several pieces of literature, all aimed at helping you read and understand the Bible. You can subscribe for a trial period, and if you find the notes useful, you can opt for a paid, longer-term subscription.
Carers Group
We have several unsung heroes who are occupied full-time, caring for someone who can’t take care of themself, i.e a disabled or elderly relative. These people are angels in disguise. Their lives are often hard, unpaid, unappreciated. The Carers Group gives them a regular chance to get away from their responsibilities and recharge their batteries.
Church Library
And on the eighth day, God said, ‘Let there be BOOKS.’
Well no, not really, but some of us could be forgiven for thinking so. We’ve a pretty fair collection of books and audio-visual material. They’re not the most recently-published tomes in the world, nor are they likely to be reable on your E-Reader. But if you need to unwind, there’s very likely something here that will allow you to escape the planet for a couple of hours. So come into the church hall, have a browse, and sign one (or two) out. Oh yeah, and switch the kettle on . . .
Think Green
Not sure what constitutes a green church, but we definitely have an environmental conscience. They are centred in a group of people called (funnily enough) the Environment Group. They keep their eyes out for ways that the wider church community can make wiser use of the resources at our disposal.
