We, as Baptists, would say that it is of prime importance to know Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the one who deals with all the personal barriers to enjoying God’s love and friendship, and who can be experienced as our Saviour and Lord. The group of Christians with which you work and worship is secondary.
Why be a Baptist then?
We stand for the following biblical truths;
- The Freedom of every human being to worship and pray as they choose.
- Jesus Christ as our supreme authority in all matters of Christian teaching.
- The Bible as God’s word.
- Baptism of those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ
- The Church as a community of those who hold to these truths and when meeting have the authority of Jesus Christ to decide all matters of faith and practice.
- The responsibility and privilege of all Christians to pray to God and to work for God in building his Kingdom by sharing with others their faith in Jesus Christ, thus demonstrating his love on earth.
- Christians of all denominations working with one another.
